Elevator One Gets another Top Rating from TSSA
The Technical Standard Safety Authority (TSSA), who oversees all elevating devices in Ontario, has again rated Elevator One as one of the top maintenance service providers in the province of Ontario. TSSA provides a detailed rating of all elevator contractors as they compare to the industry average. These stats are only provided directly to each individual elevator contractor. The stats were most recently released in November of 2013 and represent the maintenance performance results of the first 9 months of the year.
Elevator One meticulously tracks our maintenance performance on a monthly basis. This data is communicated to each maintenance technician so that we can work together to continually improve both the value and the quality of the maintenance services that we provide.
Some of the key metrics that we track are as follows:
- Number of elevator breakdowns – we currently average less than one breakdown per year in our elevator service portfolio!
- Profit per elevator – by closely monitoring this metric, we can find the best balance between proactively replacing parts before they break and replacing parts too early resulting in higher costs. This knowledge also helps us to intelligently advise building owners on when their elevators should be modernized to keep the reliability acceptable. We also find that by providing excellent preventative maintenance, the interval between modernizations with Elevator One is typically 1.5 to 2 times as long as with our competitors resulting in much lower elevator life cycle costs.
- Type of directions written by the TSSA inspector – Only 13.14% of the Elevators visited by a TSSA inspector required them to return for a follow-up visit resulting in significant cost savings for the owner. This is almost 4 times better than the industry average!
- Numbers of directions written by the TSSA inspector – On average only 0.8 directions were written per elevator when they were visited by a TSSA inspector. This is over 3.5 times better than the industry average!
By keeping careful watch over these key items we are able to provide the best preventative maintenance services for the money that is being spent. We are also able to maximize the service life of the elevators that we maintain.
We encourage you to request the TSSA results from competing contractors.
